Art will meet real life this weekend when Theatre of Dare presents "A Few Good Men" by Aaron Sorkin. Joining Theatre of Dare for the Sunday, March 4th 2 p.m. performance will be attorney Donald W. Marcari. Mr. Marcari’s true story forms the basis for this show. Audiences will remember the character portrayed by Tom Cruise in the movie version.
As a young JAG attorney, Marcari took on the system in the first big case
of his naval career. Although the movie glamorized the actual events
considerably, there are many similarities between actual events and the story
that ensued. Marcari will be available to speak to the audience and press at the
close of the performance, giving a brief informal talk concerning his real-life
experiences that led to this Aaron Sorkin play and screenplay.
Kathy Morrison, President of Theatre of Dare says, "We are thrilled and delighted to have Mr. Marcari make himself available to us and the community, and to share his experiences with the public. This is a wonderful opportunity and we strongly urge you to attend the show and the presentation following".
Show dates are March 2,3,9,10 at 8 p.m. and March 4 and 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $9 at the door, $8 in advance, $7 for seniors in advance, and $4 for students. All shows are at Manteo Middle School Auditorium, Manteo, NC.
